Hello Everyone, Fashion is universal, and there are many different views about fashion depending on where in the world you live in. So for this today’s Style Story we interviewed the incredibly talented Brazilian stylist Ana Paula Lima. Ana has become a powerhouse within the fashion industry in Brazil. Having worked with different clientele ranging from celebrities to socialites she understands each individuals particular style and specific needs. 1. Thank you once again for making the time out of your schedule to answer some of my questions! So to begin, tell me a little about yourself and how you got started working in the fashion industry. I always loved fashion, since I was a little girl, fashion is like a gift on me is a natural talent. I started to work in the fashion industry in 2006 with my best friend that in that time was living in Milan to study fashion. I went there for vacations and helped him with a fashion production for an editorial and since than I saw that it was what I really wanted to do and never stopped. I worked as assistant of this friend for 3 years and than I started to work on my own. Today I do personal styling for celebrities and normal persons, personal shopper, styling for magazines, campaigns and advertising and fashion shows. 2. What differences do you see between American fashion and Brazilian fashion? Brazilian people is more concerned about what other people will think about them so usually they don't feel free like the Americans to wear what they really want. People here especially women wants always to be up to date with the trends and they have the tendency to be equal in their groups or tribes, for example all of them wants to have a straight long hair with some waves by babyliss. Americans are more creative and free. 3. How would describe your personal style and what influences you? My personal style is chic, classic and cosmopolitan. I like to be sophisticated and elegant even when I'm wearing jeans. I'm always experimenting new trends on clothes if they go with my body shape and my taste. I love hi-lo style and I'm always wearing an it bag which is my fashion weakness. There are things in fashion that definitely is not for me, like a jeans jumpsuit or a super mini tight dress. 4. When you are styling someone, is it difficult to still allow their personality and their style to show? No, my rule number one is respect the style of the person even if I don't like it. My goal is improve that style, make the person wear that style right, according with the body shape, lifestyle, budget, etc. Otherwise the person won't be satisfied and happy with an image that she doesn't recognize herself. 5. What is your favorite piece of clothing or accessory in your wardrobe right now? My new Alexander McQueen red leather handbag with a silver skull pendant. Very McQueen! 6. What fashion trends do you see coming for Brazil for the up and coming season? I see big shapes, round shoulders and midi length. 7. Leather has become such a huge staple in the fashion industry, how do you like to wear your leather and what leather pieces do you love the most? I love leather, I think is one of the most chic pieces that we can have. Also is cozy, warm for winter and have always an air of glamour. I'm crazy about leather jackets and leather pants, I have many in different styles and colors. A pencil leather skirt is very chic, I love to dress this piece with a silk shirt. A leather jacket is always on my list for my clients as the 10 pieces you need to have in your closet. 8. Is there a motto that you live by? Do the good that good things will come back to you. Also enjoy life and the good things as much as you can. 9. Is there a trend that you just can’t wait for it to be gone? Bandage dresses has gone a long time ago but people here insist to wear this piece.   Ana has helped with many different fashion shows and contributed to editorials in Vogue Brazil, RG Vogue, Diverso, and much more.
