“Empire”, certainly the hottest, crazy-addictive and most fashionable show to hit the airwaves since “Dynasty”, never fails to please when it comes to purses (kind of like us!).   Even the guys carry them. Satchels, shoulder bags, totes – call them what you will, but they’re murses. (“It’s my European carry-all!” as Jerry Seinfeld famously insisted on a classic episode of his TV sitcom "Seinfeld".)   In one recent and revelatory episode of “Empire”, patriarch Lucious Lyon’s (Terrence Howard) deep-dark secret was discovered when his nosy secretary (Gabourey Sidibe) rooted through his man-purse and found his medication for a very hush-hush condition. It was a fine leather haversack, and if L.L. himself is carrying one around, then clearly it’s a doubly dashing accessory to have.   Still, no one can beat his chic ex, Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson), in the cool must-have accessories arena. The family diva carries a collection of clutches, shoulder bags, handbags, and coin purses, all color coordinated to her couture. Even her phone cases are show-stoppers.   Men and women alike can take a cue from Cookie’s intrepid style sensibilities. The show’s costume designer Rita McGhee explained in a recent interviews that Cookie’s, “wardrobe is full of bold prints, lots of accessories, animal prints, and furs.” It takes confidence to pull it altogether, and every week the characters show their true mettle (and precious metals).   Are you looking to do a little color coordinating?
