June 25th, note a particularly special day unless you count the Google Io 2014 conference. Just a few weeks ago we also had conferences held by Amazon where they released their new Fire Phone and a few weeks before that we had WWDC 2014 where Apple introduced iOS 8, OSX Yosemite, and Swift (their new programming language).
Well today we had some amazing news from Google IO 2014 where they introduced some amazing new Hardware and Software. the main bit of news was centered around AndroidOne, a cheaper powerful yet very affordable smartphone that will be available to those who couldn't previously afford one. Their push is to get the power of a smartphone and the access of the worlds information to everyone. Their demo showed started with the Indian Market.
Their goal was to work with local manufacturers like: Micromax, Spice, and Karbonn to create a powerful phone, which features that the user will want, and all for less than $100.The phone they mentioned that will be released in India will include, SD, dual Sim, 4.5 inch screen, FM Radio, and again all for less than $100. Now these features that are available for this smartphone are specific to the country, which means this one wont be the same as one that's released in Russia, Australia, et cetera. Google really took the user into consideration and that's amazing!
Onto software it looks like they are completely redoing the user interface and creating more rich and interactive displays and touch responses. The one that really caught my attention was material designs. They took the idea of stacking and overlaying pieces of paper, like real materials, and added that perspective to their OS and it looks amazing! In addition, they're also releasing a new platform for app and OS development. Unfortunately we don't have any photos at this time, but when they are available I'll be editing them in.
