We all lose things. Some of us tend to lose our keys, others tend to lose their wallets. Either way, we've all spent more time than we'd like looking for lost things. A new product is promising to solve that problem once and for all. Unlike previous products used to find lost items, this product doesn't come with a remote. No, Tile relies on a smartphone app to help you find those lost items. Of course, you have to attach a Tile to the item first! So what are Tiles? They are small, waterproof plastic squares, slightly larger than a postage stamp, and can be attached to anything you don't want to lose, like a computer or a TV remote with an included two-sided adhesive strip, or use the built-in loop to fasten one to your key ring. Each Tile lasts for one year after activation, and cost $19 for one, or 4 for just over $50. So what happens when you lose the item? You can access the Tile iPhone app which will give you “you're getting warmer”-type direction to the object, though you are limited to a 50-150 foot range. (What happens if the item is further away? Well, if another Tile user is within that range, you will receive an update with the location of your Tile! You'll even see a pin on the map view locating your Tile! This means the range is virtually limitless once there are enough Tile users in your area.) And once you're close by, a tiny speaker inside each Tile is triggered and emits a little beep, helping you locate exactly where your lost item is! A few things to keep in mind, though. Tile is only compatible with iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad Mini, iPad 3rd & 4th Gen, and iTouch 5th Gen. If these products go over well though, I'd expect to see an Android app. And while Tiles are available for pre-order, there is no definite ship date yet.
