Here at Story Leather we get phone cases that were designed to fit every kind of protective case, but the case that’s the most popular is none other than Otterbox! Why is this though? Well we decided to go out and find out for ourselves. Before actually getting our hands on an OtterBox Case I decided to pop over to their website and see what their customer had to say…and wow does Otterbox live up to everything we hear. Everything from run over by multiple cars to chewed on by goats, it seems as though Otterbox has been though it all. After reading all the amazing testimonials I went out and got an OtterBox Defender for the iPhone 5s and decided to really take an in depth look at it.
Upon getting the case I saw that it’s neatly packed in a box, no pun intended, but when I finally removed the case I noticed it popped into 3 pieces. Two of the inner pieces were made of a hard durable polycarbonate and the outer binding is a silicone shell that encases the polycarbonate inner shell.
The unique part of the inner polycarbonate is that it comes with a built in screen protector and its lined with a foam cushion on the inside to add that extra layer of protection. In addition to the added protection the defender series is al dust resistant, water resistant is on the preserver series, and comes with a belt clip that swivels. I had originally thought that the case would be difficult to install, but once again I was proven wrong. It installs as easy as saying 1. 2. 3.
Once fully assembled it felt really solid like brick without the weight. The phone didn’t wiggle or move, the camera and flash (rear and front facing) weren’t obscured, and all the external ports were all covered and accessible including the buttons. Overall this case does exactly what its name says, defends which is why we see so many of our customers order cases that are built for the OtterBox.
