For this week’s Style Stories I have the pleasure of speaking with Gregg Asher and Tayler Carson Sandvick of the Million Dollar Shopper! Never has there been a more dynamic duo of fashion and fun. Gregg’s style has been described as eccentric while Tayler is very couture, but when combined they create a wonderful complement just Gregg and Tayler. So let’s dive into this with Gregg and Tayler!

Story Leather: Eccentric, does that word do justice to the amazing looks you pull off Gregg?
GREGG - Yes – I totally take that as a term of endearment. I wear what I love and combine pieces in interesting ways because to me fashion should be fun. Any other word to describe me would just be too common.
Story Leather: What about for you Tayler, does classic really capture everything about your style?
TAYLER - I liked to say that my style is classic with a twist. I'm really not all one way or the other. It depends on my mood, ha! I'm not a huge fan of trends but I like to mix in a few new key pieces each season to keep my look current, fresh and effortlessly chic.

Story Leather: Color is a very big part of any style, “how do each of you like to incorporate color into your everyday wear?
TAYLER - Well I live in NYC so black is always my go-to, and effortlessly chic. However, I do love to add a pop of color in my wardrobe whether it's a neon green or pink Dior pump or a multi colored jeweled necklace or a wild color printed scarf. In the summer I wear a lot of color because it's fun and I love to mix bright prints and colors together.
GREGG - Living part-time in Texas, these women embrace color so I’m surrounded by it.  Plus I love color so how could you not feel playful in pink and slightly naughty in red.

Story Leather: Gregg, I was reading through your blog recently and I loved the post on Diana Vreeland; which of course prompted me to remember this quote, “Style – all those who have it share one thing: originality.” Are these timeless words that describe your style?
GREGG - Yes – I’m very original in that I love to play with my mixing of colors/patterns/textures etc. in unexpected ways to make my looks unique and suited for me.  I also love another quote by Diana Vreeland that definitely describes me, “A little bad taste is like a nice splash of paprika. We all need a splash of bad taste – it’s hearty, it’s healthy, it’s physical.  I think we could use more of it. No taste is what I’m against.”
Story Leather: For Tayler I thought of another famous quote by Yves Saint-Laurent, “Fashion fades, style is eternal.” How do you interpret these famous words?
TAYLER - You hit the nail on the head for me! My mother always told me "money can buy you clothes but it can never buy you taste" so that's always been my mantra.       Style is something you are born with, you got it or you don't! The way the French interpret style, Parisian chic.  Women like Carine Roitfeld, Emmanuelle Alt, Garance Doré, Ines de la Fressange; they get it. And Americans like Sarah Jessica Parker, Olivia Palermo, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Jackie O... Style is when you're wearing the clothes, they're not wearing you! It's about not doing what everyone else is doing...Effortlessness...I know I sound like a broken record!
Story Leather: Not everyone is fortunate enough to know a personal shopper or someone versed with fashion; “Are there some quick tips you can give for men and women when they’re out shopping?”
GREGG - Get to know your sales person at each store and gravitate towards those sales people who mimic your style best so they can better understand what you’re looking for and where to find it.
TAYLER - I agree with Gregg, for once! But actually a good sales person can be your best friend when it comes to shopping. Also I say stay with the basics, mix in a fun current trend here and there. Invest in handbags and shoes. And focus on fit! It doesn't matter how expensive or what designer it is, if it doesn't fit it'll never look great and you'll never feel great in it. Find a tailor you trust!

Story Leather: Lastly I have to ask about Million Dollar Shoppers, Gregg and Tayler, how was it working together and did you ever have conflicting opinions on what was best for the client?
TAYLER - We do have a total blast together, it's a dream job! But we bicker, a lot!! I think that's one of the reasons we're so good together. We can be honest and disagree. But when it's all said and done we want to make our clients happy and give them an incredible wardrobe. That's what we do!
GREGG - We’re like brother and sister so working together is a blast. We usually disagree a little bit on what is best for our clients, but I always manage to get a little sparkle or sequins in the outfits some way.

Fun and fashionable are what Gregg and Tayler are all about and that's what your style should be about as well. Find something that suits you, but always be happy and have fun with what you're wearing. For all the latest updates on Gregg and Tayler, be sure to follow them on their social media pages!
